The things we want it life but can't have...for now!

I am biting myself for passing on this sale. Gilt.com had a sale on John Varvatos shoes and bags today and one of their main items was a black leather duffel.

I've been eying this thing for months!! I was even able to put it in my shopping cart (just needed to feel that I was almost buying it), but my conscious got the best of me....and the fact that the bag cost $695. But it was originally $1700. That's 60% off...
I REALLY WANT/NEED/ADORE IT!!!

I guess I have to wait a little longer for that black leather duffel.

Man I need a job...this is torture!!

Are you ready for some inspiration...Paul Smith is.

Last week I received and email about purchasing Paul Smith's new book entitled, "you can find inspiration in everything." And given my situation, I felt inclined to know what it was all about. I though to myself that it might even serve me in my quest for a new job."

After reading about it I not only found that it sounded fascinating, but looked forward to having it rest on my coffee table for everyone to appreciate. But truth be told, the selling point was when I discovered there were 46 signed copies by Paul Smith himself, which would be sent out to the first 46 that ordered it. So needless to say, I ordered one. And guess what, I got a signed version!!!

The book is not really about fashion and suits, but rather a depiction of Paul Smith’s brain on page and how he views the world. The book is a mix of words and images that crash together in striking contrast to reveal the passions and amusement that is Paul Smith.

I must say I find the design quite intriguing. It has a 'Alice in Wonderland' feel to it, which I look forward to 'exploring' further tonight.

I'll post some more images once I've read through it.

Double brested might just work...

I am adamant that men look their best in a fitted, well-tailored suit. And in the past, I would have argued that unless you were overweight, your suit would have needed to be single-breasted. However, fall 09' runways presented some really nice double breasted suits that have forced me to re-evaluate my past standings.

I really enjoy where these cuts are going so what remains now is for me to try them for myself. This might just be the start of a wonderful relationship...just don't tell my girlfriend!!

But be aware that there is a difference between a fitted suit that hugs the body and a suit that is so slim and small that it might as well have been taken from your sisters/girlfriends closet. I agree with Tom Ford when he said," when a man’s butt is showing below the bottom of his jacket, I think it makes him look like a female flight attendant from the back—not my idea of sexy."

bye bye sweaters...

The beautiful thing about spring/summer is the absence of jackets and sweaters. And although I've accumulated a wonderful collection of sweaters and jackets this fall, I don't think I'll miss them too much at this point...I'm ready to dress for summer.

There's something about wearing a plain white t-shirt and jeans. You just can't go wrong!!

I'm wearing a white T form LOVA, my new watch from Tsovet, belt by Ferragamo and Paul Smith plimsolls.

Here's a little tribute to my sweater purchases this fall, before they get stored away for the summer.

Try to image the tune of a violin playing in the background...bye bye!

Say "I do" to fashion

With the arrival of spring we see a flux of weddings take over the state of Utah. And although weddings are meant to remind us of the love between people. For me, it's a reminder to start ironing my shirts and start showing off my love for fashion!
I attended a wedding yesterday, hoping I would finally be able to take out my khaki suit. But due to heavy rainfall, I was forced to wait a little longer and my dark gray suit was chosen instead...But not to worry. It still think it worked out great!
The suit is from Dolce & Gabbana, a great deal acquired from Bloomingdales. The purple shirt is from J.Crew, tie from Dior, tie bar from OC Tanner, and shoes from Ted Baker.

Now lets hope I meet someone that likes my style and just neeeeds me to work for them....

Prepare for mothers day with Rue La La

Rue La La is a 2-day private sales boutique, much like Gilt.com. It's strictly for members and you have to be invited in order to join. But once you are in, you'll have access to some exciting fashion deals (their deals usually fall in the 65-70 percent off range). Designers include Alexander McQueen, Mochino, Marc Jacobs and many more. And a great thing about Rue La La is they tend to have a larger selection on any given item.

However, the downside is they feature more woman's fashion than men's. That being said, you will still be able to find some stellar deals for men. Just last month they had a 50% off sale on Henkel knives, which is almost unheard off.

Next week, May 6th, Rue La La will be having a sale on Balenciaga. Just in time for mothers-day.

If you want to join, click here.

Watch out for the Vikings

I've been seeing a great deal of Scandinavian fashion featured around; both on the web and in print. And as a true Norwegian, I feel proud when I see such a small region making such a big splash within the fashion world. Some might even say that they are at the forefront.

Please make room for the likes of Henrik Vibskov, Filippa K, Nudie, J.Lindeberg,Wood Wood, Mismo, Our Legacy, Acne, Rickard Lindqvist, Patrik Ervell, Cheap Monday, Arne & Carlos, Johnny Love, April 77, and the list goes on.
We don't just live under rocks and wear funny hats...

A.P.C protection

I was just reading Nylon Mag when I came across an article on protecting your pants while biking. And given that I posted an entry on my favorite bikes yesterday, it seemed appropriate to include this piece.

A.P.C has produced what they call the "Stroke's Extra Leg," which is intended to as a garment accessory that allows you to protect your pants when you ride your bike. "Extra Leg" comes in 3 different materials; raw denim, black denim, and white denim.

The garment is held together by Velcro, which allows for a quick and easy 'wrap.' So say goodbye to the ruffled and rolled up look and hello to Mr. Discrete.
